DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
The Bird Hide

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Residential Interior Design

INSPIRATION:
Inspired by the green and oily hill scenery outside the window, a lot of warm wood colors are used in the house, and a row of cabinets is specially made by the window in the living room, so that the owner can sit by the window more comfortably and enjoy the scenery, feeling like being in the same space as in a Bird Hide, it's leisurely and contented.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The designer designed a row of sitting cabinets by the window, so that the flat owner can sit by the window and enjoy the scenery. On the other hand, the living room of the unit itself is relatively narrow and has a greater sense of pressure, which affects the experience of viewing the scenery. To this end, the designer removed the original partition wall between the living room and the kitchen and changed it to a glass wall to divide the two sides. In this way, the light in the living room and the kitchen can communicate with each other, and the view of the living room is thus widened, and it feels more open and refreshing.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
In addition to a large number of warm wood colors, the designer also configured some solid wood furniture in the lobby, such as dining tables, dining chairs and storage shelves, to add a natural atmosphere through the texture of wood. In addition, the female head of the household will make some hand-made ornaments from time to time. The long table in the master room is set for her, so that she has enough space to put the props for making ornaments. Moreover, there is a set of decorative cabinets beside the long table to display the works of the female householder, which makes the room more personal.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
Construction took around 4-5 months in total.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The structure of the Bird Hide is mainly made of wood. Based on this, the designer covered the walls and cabinets in the living room with veneer, and laid wood-grain tiles on the floor, matching the wooden blinds of the windows and the natural hill scenery outside the windows.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Project area: 577 square feet

TAGS:
Bird Hide/ House/ Japanese/ Wood

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Bird Hide is a shelter, often camouflaged, that is used to observe wildlife, especially birds, at close quarters. Our idea is to direct the internal view to the window espeically once entering the flat to enhnce the work-life balance and atmosphere at home. The architectural angle is driven by the view to the landscape outside. A typical bird hide resembles a garden shed, with small openings, shutters, or windows built into at least one side to enable observation

CHALLENGE:
The flat owner is a young couple, they all like the natural feel of Japanese style. Therefore, in addition to a large number of warm wood colors, the designer also arranged some solid wood furniture in the lobby, such as dining tables, dining chairs and storage shelves, etc., to add a natural atmosphere through the texture of wood. In addition, the female head of the household will make some hand-made ornaments from time to time. The long table in the master room is set for her, so that she has enough space to put the props for making ornaments. Moreover, there is a set of decorative cabinets beside the long table to display the works of the female householder, which makes the room more personal.
