RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In depth research of traditional building methods and materials were needed for the restoration aspect, as well as an understanding of the type of colonial architecture of the area and the norms and guidelines that were necessary to follow due to it being a historic site.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge presented for this project was the restoration and integration of the historic casona, and updating it to modern living. The original structure is protected as a heritage site, thereby having to abide by specific norms and guidelines. A combination of traditional artisanal building methods as well as modern construction were used to achieve the end result.
