| DESIGN NAME: Dalian Youth Football Training Base PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sport INSPIRATION: The project includes spaces on the north side for the first team, the reserve team, the youth team, the club and the junior team, the indoor training court on the west side and two-story club facility building on the east side. Based on a new understanding of the New Sports City district, the project integrates form and function in a succinct way, which echoes the architectural style of sports center and the site location. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Horizontal composition applied into the whole design makes the architecture smooth and coherent, perfectly showing the characteristics of football. Indoor training hall has a simple yet magnificent roof, which coordinates the whole planning of building complex. Alongside the urban road, utility buildings are arranged for sports clubs. The integration of different functional masses makes the linear architecture act as an organic part of the complex. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Based on their own functions, every building facing the urban road is designed to be different yet harmonious in unity. However, buildings facing the sports court enjoy the best view in open and transparent design with platforms and balconies. Horizontal design is applied to the whole process, showing the features of football court. For the roof, horizontal hollowed-out roof design unites all roofs on the fifth façade, which is unique and reminds people of Dalian architectures by the sea. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: materials and details of the design are in a good match. The facade of the first floor is made of stone, the upper part of the building is clad in pale stone-like finishes and the roof is covered by gray horizontal metal sheets. Materials like stone, glass and wood-like aluminium panel make the building not only vibrant and bright, but also warm and comfortable. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Project Area: 86500 square meter TAGS: Football Training Base, sports, roof, simplicity, Dalian RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The whole complex serves as an important part of the New Sports City, contributing to the development of Dalian football and public sports activities. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge is how to make the architecture conform to the architectural style of the Sports Center and the position of the land and show the features of football court.
