| DESIGN NAME: Wisdom Path PRIMARY FUNCTION: Climbing Tower INSPIRATION: A mountain is a history in stone, it accumulates key events and the Earths experience. Experience is represented by knowledge and skills accumulated over time. And wisdom is a petrified experience. The steps spirally wind around the tower clockwise. The higher you are on a spiral of time, the more experienced and wiser you are. There was an idea to use the younger version of a climber in the lower part of the tower, who will become more adult in both literal. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The owner of the ex water tower will be reconstructed to become a climbing wall. This is a bright dominating structure on the territory of Management Workshop where young executives and managers are trained. That is why upon completion of their studies young specialists perform a ceremonial climbing to the very top of the observation point. Spiral movement around the tower is a symbol of experience gaining process, symbol of life experience that is transforms into the into the stone of wisdom. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The tower is located on the premises of Management Workshop. It is the highest point in the neighborhood that is why it is well visible outside the Workshop for the key plot to be targeted at the audience. The observation point has an excellent view on Senezh lake, Workshop territory and pine forest around. When used as the climbing wall, the painting will not be rubbed off and will have a long life. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This artistic object was presented at the Youth Forum on June 10, 2019 at the premises on Senezh Management Workshop in Solnechnogorsk town near Moscow. The Forums participants were youth policy experts from the whole country. Project works started in April 2019. Possible ways of using the tower and artistic design concepts were discussed. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Surface cleaning and dismounting of obsolete elements of the towers construction; surface priming and painting it white; painting of surface with facade paint in gradient from green in the lower part to blue in the upper part; layout development in accordance with technical parameters and layout marking on the tower taking into consideration the viewpoints; artistic painting using aerosol spray paint; replacing old doors and windows; the job was done on trucks with aerial devices using safety gear. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Tower height 24 m, diameter 6 m, total artistic painting square 450 sq.m TAGS: mural art, spray art, public art, fine arts, wisdom, experience, water tower, climbing RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The territory have changed its functionality. The tower is the highest object surrounded by a scenic lake and a pine forest. New function of the territory gave a hint for new ways of using the tower: upon completion of the studies, you can climb to the observation point for a ceremony. Outer surface of the tower required some facelifting. The structures attractivity gave the idea of creating an art object with the reflection of the meaning of its new function. Protruding balconies can be transformed into part of climbing equipment thus creating a full-scale climbing wall. CHALLENGE: Complicated cylindric shape of the tower created most difficulties for development of composition and layout. It was necessary to find comprehensible images and create an integral plot to reflect the new function of the tower and Workshops territory en masse. The gradient of the staircase spiral shows movement from the ground to the sky, movement of a character from bottom to the top, growing up and achievement of the highest point. The characters are slightly deformed circularly for the proportions to be natural when viewed from ground level.
