Interview with Lovekar Design Associates at Saturday 27th of February 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AL: This project is designed for an urban couple living in a city with tropical climate in Contemporary India. The concept and wish was to provide a comfortable , smart residence which would blend with the surroundings and adapt to the climate FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AL: We wanted to achieve a warm, cozy, yet smart design for an urban setting. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? AL: It took us about 6 months to design and get this project ready on site. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? AL: The design was commissioned to us by the client FS: What made you design this particular type of work? AL: It was dictated by the requirements, the climate and the settings. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? AL: Other designers from my organization Lovekar design Associates helped me with this project. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? AL: Rai is the name of the client FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? AL: The unique aspect is its openness, its urban, yet local flavor achieved by use of local materials and Indian colors. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? AL: We had to study climate of this region and the client lifestyle FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? AL: The main challenge was to work with tight spaces and create a roomy feeling in-spite of the tight spaces FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? AL: On the basis of the revives we got from our international designer friends FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? AL: Each day was a day of learning during this project...
