Interview with Georgi Tumpalov at Saturday 16th of April 2016

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
GT: The main idea was and still is to build the Magic Castle. The same as in the fairy tales and to make the guests smiling and happy.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
GT: To use the natural materials only and to build the castle strong and immortal.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
GT: Every day new ideas are arising: New galleries, 3 dimension mapping show, water fountains, new trees and flowers in the garden.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
GT: The project starts before 20 years and still is running.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
GT: It was my dream from the childhood.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
GT: Everything I did by myself and all details starting from the stones up to the roof are my idea.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
GT: The castle really became attractive and magic.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
GT: No any !

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
GT: Everyone can come and enjoy. No any specific target or any restrictions.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
GT: No any other castle in our country. No any new build castle in Europe and most probable no any alive founders of the Castles.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
GT: The wind really loves our castle.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
GT: Everything came from my own design. No any copies.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
GT: The castle became the part of paradise.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
GT: No any people or companies with the specific skills. Hardworking with the people from the local village is the receipt of our success.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
GT: We applied the new technology mainly at the game zone and in the additional tourist attractions.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
GT: No any.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
GT: The main challenge was to convince the people that we are on the correct way. To collect stones only first six years of the project can disappoint many people, but not me.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
GT: Our guests and the tourists admire of our project and they suggest us to participate.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
GT: We god huge experience and even we start from the beginning now for sure we will make the Castle faster.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
GT: The know-how of building castles is: Stones and 20 years handwork day and night. After that - another 200.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
