Interview with Allen International at Wednesday 6th of February 2013 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AI: It is built on a journey from street to home and is designed to provide an immersive sensory experience at every touch point. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AI: To add fun and a touch of home to the Virgin Media retail experience FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? AI: Future roll-out of the design throughout the UK FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? AI: 3 months in total FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? AI: The design was commissioned by Virgin Media in the UK FS: Who is the target customer for his design? AI: Existing and new Virgin Media customers FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? AI: An interactive and intuitive multi-sensory experience FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? AI: 'Our House' - relates to the theme of 'street to house' FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? AI: Built to reflect a 'home' FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? AI: allen international collaborated with Resolution Interiors who built it for us, and the digital technology retail journey was Acquire Digital FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? AI: To create a sense of theatre and personality which provides the gateway for customers to explore the world of the latest entertainment and communications services from Virgin Media FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? AI: We were a finalist in 2012
