Interview with Giovanni Murgia at Monday 16th of May 2022 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? GM: The inspiration comes from the territory and its history, specifically from an element that characterizes the marine landscape of the locality where these wines are born. In fact, the Mangiabarche Lighthouse is an icon of the Island of Sant'Antioco that has welcomed those arriving from the sea for almost a century. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? GM: I wanted to achieve a clean and minimal design but at the same time of great visual impact. A design that could tell the story of this territory and its wines but at the same time make these products contemporary and captivating. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? GM: Other labels inspired by this design will be born for other wines in the cellar FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? GM: This concept took about 2 months of work, from the creative phase to the realization phase FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? GM: The design was created on commission for the Cantina di Calasetta company FS: What made you design this particular type of work? GM: The customer's request was to create a line of wines suitable for a young audience but attentive to quality, while at the same time rejuvenating the image of the cellar which dates back to 1932. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? GM: I consider this work a project worthy of participating in design competitions
