Sylvia Jielu Zhang, the creative mind behind the winning project Heart of Young Grass explains “This earring is designed for all mothers and daughters. The inspiration comes from an ancient poetry about farewell, in which children are the young grass, and mothers are the spring sun’s rays. The design also has a modern aesthetic, and a contemporary meaning echoes with everyone who leaves their hometown. Instead of nostalgia, the earring represents blessing and gratefulness. The form of the young grass is elegant and natural, with layering and overlapping details.
