Kaidi Mao, the lead designer of the winning project Zi Ran explains “Living, like any living things, is a spontaneous process. The Chinese word for nature is Zi Ran, which means that the process happens of itself, not under control of any outside force. Kaidi Mao designed and made the table following this philosophy, without using any nails, screws or glue. Poplar was used as the material, due to the wood's properties, which are lightweight, particular veins and fresh color.
