Qian Yang, the designer of the award winning project Plethora says “Adof Loos once argued “the greatness of our age (post-industrial)…is incapable of producing a new ornaments”, but now we can. Plethora is the first large-scale 3D printed metal sculpture signifies the peak of form and ornament. It seeks balance between parametric algorithm and synthetic forms of illustration. Digital fabrication tools break the barriers between design and manufacture; objects can be made with infinite details without added cost. Its surfaces catch light from all directions, and its monumental scale interacts with surroundings.
