Nina Edwards Anker, the lead designer of the winning work Latitude Lights explains “Latitude Light is an indoor/outdoor solar-powered light that is 3D printed in strong flexible plastic. The light’s geometry is updated in a digital file so that the tilt of the photovoltaic panel changes according to its destined location. In this way, Latitude Light’s capacity for electric power generation is optimized for different latitudes. Its translucent surfaces, only 1mm thick, glow warmly from an LED bulb placed at its center.
