A' Design Award and Competition is happy to share that the work Playtime by Fashion designer Ying Gao and her collaborator Simon Laroche for robotics has been awarded with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design Category selected as a winner by the transnational referees of the A' Design Awards & Competitions among thousands of submissions.

Regarding Playtime

Ying Gao, the designer of the award winning project Playtime says “Playtime exists at the intersection of fashion design and interactive technologies. It references two key scenes of Tati’s film. Playtime explores the concept of transformation. In the context of a fashion show with sounds and lighting, the possibility for the viewer to photograph or shoot the dresses on video is rendered difficult: they will appear blurry in the recorded image.
