Roskear Broughton Designer Profile
Roskear Broughton is the award-winning designer of the Stemn Flat pack furniture.
Roskear Broughton

Ros started Fyrn to inspire people to move away from disposable culture. He believes the proliferation of planned obsolescence has made folks lose touch with what is truly a good quality product. The name Fyrn, pronounced "fē, yərn/," is an Old English prefix that means ancient, of old and is a nod to the company's roots in traditional furniture making. Fyrn believes the furniture and items that people bring into their lives should be well-considered decisions informed by how the products are made, where the raw materials are sourced, impacts of production, and whether the item can serve its function well for a long time to come. Furniture should be beautiful, comfortable and functional, but also built to last and capable of easily being repaired instead of disposed of. The company started by designing and making furniture because it's basic, items people live with every day. Ros grew up in a home that was rich in history, with slow drawn out gatherings amongst friends, family, and laughter. He believes that if you know the story of a chair’s origin and you live with it for decades, then it begins to hold a value that is greater than the chair itself and that’s something that can be passed on and shared.
