Light alteration is a key factor for photo-shooting; thus, this revamp of building, built in 1982, aims to coexist with natural daylight as much as possible. Inspired by membrane semi-transparency, the facade was rebuilt with glass bricks, undermining the sloping ground line and visual heftiness. Indoors cement hollow-bricks create contrasts with glass bricks, both materials implying a synthesis of old days and new era, allowing light-transmitting freely spread out. In dawn, while interior is lit up, passers-by sit on the bench sharing illumination via glass wall, linking up city and citizens.
Inclusive backdrops of the Chinese literature up-bringing and the experience of craftsmanship practices, Ming-Hong Tsai’s works focus on spatial dialogue towards users, permeating contemporary aesthetics and sustaining poetic undertones into ordinary life. A conceptual fusion of art, literary, and architecture works up experimental approaches to interior space, reflecting the extraordinary tastes of space users.
