An interior design project for a long-standing Italian restaurant in Japan. The design team combined classical and modern elements in a way that pays homage to the restaurant's tradition while also evoking a sense of novelty. Two especially eye-catching design elements are the marble artwork on the ceiling modeled after the rose windows of the Milan Cathedral and the main wall, which the design team fashioned by applying a traditional Japanese rammed earth technique to pulverized bricks from the old restaurant. These design elements and the light fixtures were tailor-made for the restaurant.
