Theogony Illustrated Children Book

Emmanouela Kakavia has many years of experience in illustrating children’s books. Her studies in Greek culture contribute to teach children to read the symbolism of the images, while her previous experience as a TV director effects the correct composition of the illustrations. Her working method consists of pencil and mostly watercolor. Images are completed digitally, using Photoshop to compose the elements and to adjust the colors, without losing the handcrafted texture. The way that she handles the natural and digital media, help the viewer to recognize all the stages of the work.

Emmanοuela Kakavia has many years of experience in illustrating children’s books and creating pαper worlds. She draws inspiration from ancient culture but she is open to her surroundings, trying to find inspiration in the character of the place she is exhibiting in. Her working method consists of pencil with final artwork rendered using watercolour. Images are completed digitally, using Photoshop to compose the elements and adjust the colors. without losing the handcrafted texture.

Emmanouela Kakavia has completed three workshops in Byzantine art (workshops: Th. Petrou, D. Chatziapostolou and I. Cordis), as well as free design courses ant the educational program "Creating Comics: History, Language, Types and Techniques of Narration" by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She holds a State Degree in Television Direction, as well as a University Degree of History-Archeology-Art (School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Cyprus in Hellenic Culture). Since 2018, she is a member of the IBBY, as illustrator. She has worked at the National TV Channel of Greece (ERT). She is specialized on Byzantine style and her artworks are very popular to individual art collectors. She also illustrates fairy tales for children and adults. Μany of the books she has illustrated have been published. Emmanouela lives in Athens with her husband and her two children and Illustrates by believing that civilization is the creating with soul .
