Uchi creates food with fresh ingredients in ways that defy expectations. The design intent was to support this mission through the program of the building and the sensory experience of the space. A 7000 sf greenhouse sits atop the seating space. It supplies the kitchen with the freshest organic greens available throughout the year. Likewise, the materials used to in the space are common materials to the region, yet used in an unexpected manner. The southern brick wall is constructed of red bricks reclaimed from Denver demolition projects with the insertion of custom made crystal bricks.
Tres Birds Workshop simplifies the building process; the same people who design are the same people who build. Each person on the team is educated in architecture and has construction experience. This creates seamless management across all phases of the project, eliminating overlapping costs and ensuring a consolidated process from start to finish. Art-making is central to the tres birds process. They believe creativity is infinite and necessary to transform any space into an inspiring place for inhabitants. This view applies to the use of materials, with the ability to reinvent discarded materials into something new, beautiful and purposeful.
tres birds workshop is a full-service architecture and general contracting firm based in Denver, Colorado. Our primary objectives are to unite humans with nature through the built environment and lower embodied energy + fossil fuel consumption in the practice of architecture. The natural world runs on highly sophisticated and efficient systems that create balance and order. We seek to mimic this efficiency and view each project as a total system to be approached in an integrated and holistic manner, using cross-disciplines: art, science (biology, ecology), anthropology, architecture and construction management. Our goal is to work on projects with people who share values of environmental stewardship, human health, community enrichment and artistic appreciation. We engage in a range of project types: historical renovations, commercial retrofits, new construction, office spaces, creative studios, retail, restaurant, mixed-use development, single-family homes, multi-unit residential buildings, civic, non-profit, temporary installations, permanent fixtures, locally, domestically or abroad.
