The designer's idea was to reflect about all stages of design using the Dieter Rams ten design principles as reference, and to utilize a simple object to convey a design philosophy that goes beyond aesthetics. What makes a lamp, a lamp? And How simple can it be? The design is composed by four basic elements intertwine to form a minimalist and geometric expression of a traditional ceiling lamp. Nowadays, sustainability is one of the big challenges designers need to face. These designs use natural materials that are recyclable, compostable and biodegradable.

Hernán Gregorio is an Industrial Designer from Argentina. Nowadays he is living in the United States and working as an Assistant Professor at Kansas State University. His design interests cover a wide range of fields, including furniture, smart devices, user experience, product semantics, design theory and design education. Currently His research focus is on Industrial Design, Product Semantics, Entrepreneurship, and Education.
