The Beehive House is a home to stimulate the mind and body. The internal structure allows the family the freedom to choose how they move between spaces and together with the variety of shapes this keeps the brain stimulated. Positioning functional spaces on different levels helps to keep the body active. The architect has used Japanese castles as a theme for the design; the Regional Lord occupies the central space and the residents surround the main castle and protect it.
Higashijima aims to create spaces that stimulate the mind and body to improve the user's quality of life and to make life more fun. His buildings are unique. His designs don't blend into the background but instead confront the visitor in new and unusual ways. As a result, the user's awareness of their surroundings is heightened and they then have a more fulfilling experience in the space.
