Inspired by water's fluid form and glass's translucent qualities, Memory of Water is an experimental piece of jewelry and work of art that explores the concept of value, and the idea of an intricate representation without the use of conventional precious metal and gems. It mimics the shape of water captured in a split second, allowing it to be fluid yet lucid, brittle yet viscous. The piece was made with hand-pulled canes from molten borosilicate glass. The glass was then formed around a heated mandrel and post-processed with a combination of cold-working and lamp-working.
As a designer, Lucy is interested in the points where opposite disciplinaries intersect with each other. She takes inspiration from the unique interaction between Art, Science, Design and Engineering in consideration of knowledge, data, behavior and relevance in creating a better world. To her, design can be taken beyond merely solving problems. It is an systematic yet disruptive series of decision that act as an interconnected part of the larger world ( referencing Holistic Design ). She approaches scenarios, problems and case studies in her own unique ways.
