Due to strict regulations and a narrow sloped plot, Opening House was designed on a vertical axis so as to make maximum use of limited space and was inspired by the owner’s playful personality, and his love for Star Wars and Rubik’s cube. Its shape is triangular as the north facade swings to the west to catch sunlight and frame the main entrance of the house by creating a luminous atrium that spans across three floors. This opening gesture is underlined by the use of the vibrant colors of Rubik’s Cube inside and outside the house.
Kipseli Architects - means beehive in Greek - is a brand new concept for the development of architecture in Greece and beyond. The basic concept is to transform the urban space, concentrating on the human existence within it by using architecture as a necessity in everyday life. Focusing on the value of the uniqueness of each idea, architecture is related with other forms of art. As a living organism, it aims to create a dynamic network of architects and designers that can work together as a group or individually for a common purpose. Embracing the dynamics of diversity as a natural evolution of things, Kipseli Architects deals with the design of unique, playful and inspiring living spaces. The objective is to “plant the seed” for an architecture that is not defined by a set of regulations, styles and forms, but an architecture that has the power to influence everyday life.
