A sculptural piece that functions as sitting area for the public and illuminates at night. When clear changes to colours, the seat switches from being dynamic shadow, into a colourful light show. The title, which consists of two “C” s facing each other, means from “clear to colors”, and to converse in colors. The seat shaped like the letter “C”, are meant to encourage the public to converse and connect people of diversity and culture.
Installation artist Angela Chong uses light projections in dark enclosures to entice her audience to question emotional attachment between the object and its owner, in the context of personal history and site-specific darkness. Although light has been her media, her interest has always been darkness. She is currently investigating intentions of darkness and the notion of light as image. She is focusing her research on news-specific media to exemplify our understanding of information and ‘truths’ on the subject of conflict, and examine the hierarchy relationship between image and text.
