Waveform is a series of modular bookcases which represent the undulating waves of the sea. The design consists of three different units which can stand alone as a single bookcase or combined in any configuration. The vertical blades change progressively from side to side and top to bottom. The design concept for the bookcase is to appear as a series of waves hung on the wall disguising it's true function until viewed from a perpendicular angle.

Born in California, raised in Santa Barbara, Carmine grew up by the sea. Fascinated with the unique elements of this aquatic environment, he developed an interest in the unusual design solutions nature provided. Questioning how things were designed, wanting to explore alternative ideas, he entered the Industrial Design program at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena where he achieved a Bachelor of Science degree. Working in multiple fields of interest, he has won awards in architecture, product and interior design. Regardless of project typology, his work continues to focus on unique concepts, original ideas and the experience of the individual within their environment.

MABELE, is an internal division of MA-BO, a historic metal carpentry. Today a team of professionals works closely with young designers and architects in the development of innovative ideas both in the field of architecture and furniture. Customization, craftsmanship and technology combine themselves with a large selection of natural and made-by-hand treatments on metal, giving shape to unique works, 100% made in Italy. Waveform was designed for "Off the wall", the contest launched in collaboration with Mabele on Desall.com, an open design and innovation platform that offers to companies a participatory design tool involving in the creative process an international community of designers, architects and engineers coming from all over the world.
