Observing an Embaúba leaf, the following question popped up: how would it be possible to transform this ramification pattern into an origami, which is usually very symmetrical? How to make folding patterns similar to some in Nature? Like a leaf that withers. This pieces were design with withering in mind. They come flat, to facilitate their transport and storage, and when used they open. They are made of a neutral ph paper, instead of an acid one, so they are more durable and won't yellow in time like rice paper does. The plaiting on the surface is made in natural vegetable pigments.
The Studio focuses on the study of Nature and advanced computational systems. We propose a greater connection between man and Nature's shapes and patterns with regards to familiarity and the possibility of bringing inside the house elements that resemble Nature. New technologies allow the reproduction of complex forms and patterns that would be difficult without the computer.
