'Life in and with Nature' is the basic motif for the Haus Rheder, located directly on the Nethe River. The two completely glazed facades, one of which can slide almost completely open on the river side, blur the boundaries between interior and exterior. Reduction to the quintessential was the focus: light, air and tranquility. The design plays skillfully with the elements: a reflecting pool causes natural light reflections to develop on the ceiling, while a fireplace brings fire into the room. The highlight, however, is the terrace with a wide view into the surrounding landscape.

The clients, a three person household, like to enjoy nature and spend the weekends away from the bustle of the big city. The design of the house reflects perfectly the desire for peace and simplicity in contrast to the hectic pace of life in the twenty-first century and offers the ability to experience the elements close at hand.
