Inspired by the shape-shifting abilities of amoeba, Amoeba Wall is a flexible and illuminated robotic wall system that moves and changes shape on command. The wall's backlit panels autonomously twist and move in response to changing user needs and commands, transforming an open area into different enclosed and luminous spaces. One space can be anything from small individual offices, to open co-working spaces, to a private meeting room. With this system, users have a reconfigurable space that is both efficient and elegant.
Changing Places Group propose that new strategies must be found for creating the places where people live and work, and the mobility systems that connect these places, in order to meet the challenge if the future. Changing Places Group is investigating how new models for urban architecture and personal vehicles can be more responsive to the unique needs and values of individuals through the application of disentangled systems and smart customization technology. They are developing technology to understand and respond to human activity, environmental conditions, and market dynamics. They are interested in finding optimal combinations of automated systems, just-in-time information for personal control, and interfaces to persuade people to adopt sustainable behaviours.
