Unique Properties: As a flexible architectural element rather than a fixed element, a wall consists of semi-transparent basket surface. The surface minimizes the separation between the inside and outside, light and silhouettes beyond the space show through. Inspiration: We intend to reinterpret the possibility for the boundary of the wall which using new materials with time. Challenge: 1,500 the structural semi transparent basket are hung on the wall. When the building is demolished in 2 years, the baskets can be reused. And this memory could be expand in the current time.
Hyunje Joo_Baukunst was established in Duesseldorf and moved to Seoul in 2021. We work on the boundary of architecture in various aspects and rethink about the meaning of everyday objects and materials. The office has received numerous awards, including Mercedes Junge Kunst Award, Design Educates Award in Germany, Gamma Best Young Artist of the Year Award, and A design Award in Italia. Major projects include Namdo Righteous Army History Museum, Hangang floating gallery, Shinpo Underground Public Walkway, and landmark tower in Buyeo. We consider architecture as a form of art and provide a new perspective on the architecture. Hyunje Joo is a principal of Hyunje Joo_Baukunst, registered architect in Germany (AKNW) as well as a adjunct professor practicing in seoul. He studied at Aachen(RWTH) and Duesseldorf. In 2017, he received his master’s degree with distinction at the Kunstakademie duesseldorf in germany, where appointed as the Meisterschueler by Max Dudler and Nathalie de vries(MVRDV).
Hyunje Joo and Munhyung Lee based on it’s wide architectural spectrum in Europe and Asia. Hyunje Joo was born in Korea and received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering at Inje University. He came to the Germany in 2012, where he studied architecture at Kunstakademie Duesseldorf receiving a Master of Architecture in 2017. Mr. Joo then received a Meisterschueler Prof.Max Dudler and Prof. Natalie de vries (MVRDV) at Kunstakademie Duesseldorf in 2015 and 2017.
