The Breathing Spirit is designed to be a symbol of purity and beauty. In other words, two features of purity and layers of meaning, are combined in the work. First, it is considered to bring a gentle essence into the place by playing with light and shadow as an art work, inspired by Iranian architecture and carpets. On the other hand, it is capable of bringing fresh purified air to the house as a role of air purifier. In this work, the notions of functionality and emotional design have been brought together.

The Breathing Spirit Studio was founded by Amin Zeighami, Ali Mahmoudi, Venus Jalali and Hilda Taheri in May 2016. The purpose of the designs, propose by the studio are mainly sustainable solutions for better life. Studio has a cross & multi-disciplinary approach towards problems and challenges mostly environmental and cultural. Thus, utilizing different fields of science and technology, the studio focuses on solutions which are not only scientific, but also aesthetically appreciative with regards to usability and ergonomics. Creating a linkage between science and people’s lives is the mission of the studio and has to be done within the realm of human centered designs. The first actual product of the studio is a self-client project to solve the issues of polluted air in congested urban areas and indoor environments which was done by the collaboration of chemical engineers and designers to develop an underemployed function of a chemical substance and deliver it to the area of domiciliary products; the work scope of the studio is not home products though. Nonetheless, The Breathing Spirit always consider discover solutions to everyday people’s lives, explore for solutions in science and shape them in a way in which people can actually use them. Projects of the studio are now under the category of environment and culture. Due to the initiative steps of the studio, most of the projects being worked on, are academics oriented rather than client driven. Hence, the projects are fully self-funded or get budget from an academic organization per se; however, the office is established off-campus.
