Helena Weber Architektin ZT On the Rocks House
On the Rocks House is Golden Design Award winner in 2016 - 2017 Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award Category.
On the Rocks House

The House on the Rocks, designed by Helena Weber, is situated above the valley, in the midst of a quiet scenery of nature. The house unfolds a spacious landscape - with just a few architectural gestures a place is created that provides protecting areas of retreat as well as rooms with generous openings towards the valley. An inner courtyard in the centre is a contemplative element, which adapts to the season: it invites winter light to enter the room whereas in summer it moderates sun radiation through a nice green-top.

The architecture office HELENA WEBER ARCHITEKTIN ZT is located at the border triangle Austria, Germany and Switzerland, with the premises in Vorarlberg/Austria. It provides planning and solutions of various types and scales, ranging from urbanistic studies in cooperation with public institutions to multi-story residential buildings, one-family dwellings, and also interior design, including the design of furniture. The main guideline in all these complex tasks is to give clear and individualized answers, which are based on an intensive consideration of the respective location and its cultural imprint, relate the object to its environment in a natural yet unique way, and nurture the long-lasting non-verbal communication between the object and its surrounding.

The resulting concept of space is typically supposed to outgrow its original core purpose, creating added atmospheric value. In each realization, the choice of material and the appropariate consideration of ecological aspects is considered both self-evident and crucial.
