Geumi Lee's spring 2017 collection "My Own Stadium" is designed for type of women she aspires to be. Although this all white collection seems subtle at first, it makes a strong conceptual statement. The collection appropriates traditionally masculine details and adapts them using unique fabrics and construction techniques into sexy, sophisticated and empowering women's wear. What was once men's sportswear, becomes women's power wear. It becomes each women's own stadium
Since I was young, I was deeply interested in anything that was aesthetically pleasing. Prior to studying fashion, I went to Ewha University in Korea where I majored in western painting and printmaking. Through undergraduate degree, I have gained knowledge on installation art and this eventually helped me developing concepts and designing ideas. Soon after graduation, I moved to the United States by enrolling Parsons and Academy of Art University. When I dream of myself, I can easily imagine myself designing products for my own named brand moving across the globe from United States to Korea. I will continue my career until my brand can be known as life style brand.
Prior to studying fashion, Geumi Lee went to Ewha University in Korea where she majored in western painting and printmaking. Her fascination with fashion made her decide to continue further education in Academy of Art University. Geumi Lee’s collection is about the narrative of athleticism and orientalism. She was intrigued by the idea of combining the passionate active sportswear with the serene traditional Asian Garments. Mixing these elements was interesting, since both represent two different feelings. She used specific sports elements especially from the NFL sports gear as well as boxing gear.
