Aya Kawabata Sun and Night Textile
Sun and Night Textile is Silver Design Award winner in 2016 - 2017 Textile, Fabric, Textures, Patterns and Cloth Design Award Category.
Sun and Night Textile

Creatively, Aya like using abstract subject matter and imagery because she want every viewer to bring their own unique background and ideas to viewing the work. She really want people to have an individual experience. Technically, this textile creates harmony through the color and texture of yarns. Jaquared weaving is an old technique that allows the combination of warp and weft to result in new colors. Jaquared also creates tiny, three-dimensional structures on the surface of the weave to give the work a different texture as you view it from different angles.
