Pedro Quintela Cortesia Multifunctional Chair
Cortesia Multifunctional Chair is Bronze Design Award winner in 2014 - 2015 Furniture Design Award Category.
Cortesia Multifunctional Chair

Inspired in a curvilinear natural line of a human hair, the motivation to design this object was to create a single piece with different positions to enjoy it. The dimensions and angles are solved, in order to find the most confortable postures to embrace the users emotional moment. One can sit, chill out, lean or lay down. The creative challenge was to balance the whole in one continuous surface. The intention was to approach the furniture design by testing it as an interpretation line of thought related to everyday situations and correlate it with the modern society, history and values.

The Architect is a firm believer in the art that consciously develops as a process of evolution, as with nature, connected in three phases: Adaptation (immediate responses of the object and place); Transformation (reflection) and crystallization (Creation). Just going through this process, he considers a work to be authentic and respectful to the ‘the spirit of the place’
