Pandora is a multifunctional sofa system concept, designed for studios with small space, with the purpose of converting the living-room by flexibly adapting to requirement, thus generating the most out of the available space. It has functions that serve four basic user needs; relaxation, entertainment, dining and studying, integrated into one single furniture. It is consisted of a sofa/bed, folding stools that can also function as footstools, a folding table, two roll-away benches and a drawer. Made out of MDF, it is a sustainable and inexpensive beautiful artifact that could fit in any house.
Andreas Orpheas is a young Design Engineer from Greece. He is passionate about new ideas and he tries to invent new solutions to problems. As a Design Engineer, he balances between form and function and takes a holistic approach when it comes to problem solving. He embraces the knowledge of the past, observes trends of the present, but also visions about the future. His main interests are industrial and product design, interaction design and user experience, branding and visual identity, and service design. He believes that Design is not just a profession or an act, but a way of living. Every problem we face, can be seen as a new design challenge and an inspiration to create a new solution.
Andreas Orpheas Makos and Manolis Stratis are two young Design Engineers from Greece, currently completing their studies at the University of the Aegean. Being friends and colleagues, they decided to work together on a project and they created the “Pandora” multifunctional sofa. They are both passionate about design and they try to improve with every project they do. With a Design Engineering background, and an eye for nice things, they combine functionality with aesthetic pleasures. Their fields of interest lie from industrial to interaction design, branding, service design, and more.
