The stories behind the objects were the main inspiration during the design development. 10 rooms, 10 main objects and 10 story lines were merged in order to create one unitary story line. Rooms as neutral groundworks are used for reconstruction of the history while specific scenography is created with the help of video, audio and lighting.

Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation

Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation is the oldest in Latvia and the whole of the Baltics, and one of the oldest public Museums in Europe. The Museum is located in Old Riga, in a significant 13th-20th century architectural monument, namely, the Riga Dom ensemble, which comprises the church, the gothic Cross gallery and Museum. The Museum originated in 1773, from the private collection of the Riga doctor Nikolaus von Himsel family and over the centuries it has grown into the richest collection of Rigas' historical evidence. What Riga looked like over the centuries, what kind of people lived here, tells the museum exhibition in 16 halls-of the creation and development of Riga over more than 800 years, as well as shipping in Latvia’s territory from the 10th century until today.
