The best way to hold the short animation Paths of Light by Zina Caramelo was to ensure that the DVD had a beautiful case to match. The packaging actually looks like it was plucked from the woods and moulded to form a CD. On the outside, various lines are visible, almost appearing as small trees growing up the side of the case. The wooden exterior also helps to give it an extremely naturalistic look. Paths of Light is an extreme update from the cases many saw for CDs in the 1990s, which usually consisted of basic plastic with a paper package to explain the contents inside.(text by J. D. Munro)

Francisco Elias born on 23 of March, 1984 in Fundão, Portugal. Actually he works mainly as an independent designer; he develops also projects with other designers and collaborations with some studios. Nelson Fernandes was born in Marvão (Portugal), 23 January 1979. He is a portuguese multi-awarded artist. Since 2000, he has been developing his work in a series of fields such as video, cinema of animation, photography, painting and illustration.

In 2009 started an Intensive Master in Graphic Design at Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid, Spain. He began his professional work as a trainee at Erretres Studio, Madrid, and after as a graphic designer and creative director at P28 Association, Lisbon (PT). Nowadays he works as an independent Communication designer. Nelson Fernandes aka Zina Caramelo was born in Marvão (Portugal), 23 January 1979. He is a portuguese multi-awarded artist. Since 2000, he has been developing his work in a series of fields such as video, cinema of animation, photography, painting and illustration. From 2002 to 2009, he collaborated in the international festival of young cinema IMAGO, in Fundão, Portugal, as a production assistant, programmer and film selector. After eight years of intense activity and professional development, he has decided to extend his knowledge taking the Integral Animation Techniques course (2D, 3D, Stop-Motion) and a Stop-Motion Master in which it directed the film: El Castigo (The Punishment). In 2013, among other works, Nelson Fernandes developed his lastest animation “Paths of Light”.
