Ideally shaped and balanced for cooking, this hand-carved spoon from a pear tree was my attempt to redefine a cookware design using one of the oldest material utilized by mankind, wood. The bowl of the spoon was carved asymmetrically to fit in the corner of a cooking pot. The Handle was shaped with a subtle curve, which makes an ideal shape for a right-handed user. A strip of purpleheart insert adds little bit of character and weight to the handle part of the spoon. And the flat surface on the bottom of the handle allows the spoon to stand on a table by itself.
