"Butterfly" is part of an exercise in exploration of metal processes. Inspired by Mexican Monarca Butterflies, which despite to the fragile appearance of its wings, is capable of traveling more than 4000 kilometers from Canada to the state of Michoacan in Mexico. The pure lines resemble a wing shape of a butterfly and its structure is made to create a very confortable, strong and aesthetic piece. Always looking for a perfect balance between function and production feasibility, "Butterfly" makes up pairs of stackable, cast aluminum, indoor-outdoor chairs.
Santo & Jean Ya is a Franco-Mexican firm, based at Brooklyn, whose pieces are crafted with the same techniques used in antiquity. By going back to the roots, where design started, exploring and rediscovering potential, to preserve the cultural heritage of the world and leave evidence of our passion to future generations.
