The idea behind this functional art piece was to create a desk that, through its clear form and material choice, evokes the special moment of a forest walk. It captures the feelings of freedom, spatial openness, protective spatial enclosure, and a deep sense of originality and naturalness. It also offers full functionality expected from a desk in everyday office life. Concealed within are storage spaces for office stuff and sockets for electronic devices. The retractable writing surface ensures a tidy workspace, maintaining a clean aesthetic free from visible cables and office mess.
Life as a process is ideal. However, the image of one's own life melts into an immeasurable variety of currents of foreign influences, blending into a color that can no longer be differentiated. In the thick paste of our everyday life, only the screaming nuances of flashy, pushy currents manage to gain visibility for a short time. One's own life is an intimate confidant, yet it remains completely strange. Felix Schwake's works follow his philosophy: "Architecture has to be the background for life." They offer the opportunity to experience one's own life as an essence. Against a (white) background, one becomes familiar with one's own self and gets to know one's needs.
The desk FS 418 is the highlight of an interior design project in a historic pre-existing building that we have newly designed and renovated. This project is situated in a prime 1A+ location in the City of London. The desk is featured in an executive office that connects to both private and business spaces. It is part of FELIX SCHWAKE's "Forest Walk Collection" and complements the other pieces as well as the overall design theme for this room.
