In this posters serial, the Chinese character titles are enlarged to the maximum, like the crude expression of the "big character poster" in the past China. The design also amplifies and exposes the texture and physical properties of different paper edges. In today's digital age, using ancient Chinese characters and traditional "paper" forms to design and arrange through modern Western free format is a symbolic exploration of the historical and contemporary truth issues brought about by cultural collisions.
Mengyi Xie is a senior brand designer in Shanghai. He has been engaged in the practice, research and teaching of brand image design and visual communication for more than ten years.
