The design employs various approaches such as materials contrast, block insertion, and folding panel combinations to visualize an integrated and compact building form and express the relationship between architectural function and form. Additionally, elements such as facade openings, partly elevated floors, sky gardens, and grilles are used to adapt to Lingnan's hot and rainy weather. The square and forceful architectural form portrays the Gushu Fire Station as a solemn and calm guard.

Founded in 1984, the Institute of Architecture Design & Research of Shenzhen University is a comprehensive class-A design firm.
