Shaanxi University of Science & Technology is a university located in Shaanxi province, China. It has a campus in Xianyang and a campus in Xi'an. Shaanxi University of Science and Technology is the first light industry institution of higher learning in the People's Republic of China. It was founded in Beijing in 1958 as Beijing Institute of Light Industry. In 1970, it was moved to Xianyang, Shaanxi Province and renamed Northwest Institute of Light Industry. In 1978, it was designated by The State Council as one of the 88 key universities in China. In 1998, it was transferred to Shaanxi Province and in 2002, it was renamed Shaanxi University of Science and Technology.
