By combining user culture and behavior, the traditional Soban's functional and aesthetic elements are redesigned to fit the modern life culture, and new materials and technologies are used to develop and produce the products. By conforming to the changes in people's behavioral characteristics in different periods, furniture that lasts for a long time is timeless and can also realize the sustainable development of furniture design and use.
Qi An is a doctoral candidate in spatial furniture design at TED Graduate School of Lifestyle Studies, Kookmin University, Korea. In 2020, he received a double master's degree in interior architecture and product design from Ecole Camondo, France. He has participated in the Beijing high-level talent training program and won national and international awards such as MadeCuleture Award International Design Competition, Jinpu Cup, National Packaging Design Competition, and National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. He has participated in projects such as the renovation of Van Cleef & Arpels' office space, the planning and design of Jean-Michel Basquiat's "L'art et la musique" art exhibition at the Philharmonie in Paris, the design of the restaurant at the UNESCO headquarters, and the renovation of Hôpital Bichat Hospital in Paris.
The Graduate School of Techno Design, supported by the government’s Brain Korea 21 Project, offers various programs to enhance students’ professionalism, especially focusing on the practical education of students in order to develop their abilities in designing, planning, and marketing, and in the coordination of projects through participation in collaborative research with companies.
