Introducing a sofa created by overlapping two components. While fulfilling its functionality, this sofa presents an object-like look that transforms its impression with every angle of view. The backrest and seat are off-axis and laid out to form a flat surface, thereby creating a variety of usages and arrangements. When several units are placed side by side, the backrest and the seating surface merge into a single element, blending into one.
Born in Kagawa Prefecture. After graduating from the Kuwasawa Design School, he worked at an interior design firm before launching his design firm in 2010 and incorporating soell inc. in 2022. He started lecturing at the Kuwasawa Design Institute in 2014 and at Showa Women's University in 2020. He has been exploring the relationship between objects and space and the unrestrained design conception based on a change of perspective between micro and macro scales. From such an approach, he engages in interior and product design.
Soell inc. is a design company founded by Tomoki Doi, who works in Tokyo, and focuses on space design, product design and furniture design, and also sells products and furniture designed by the company.
