This work is about the story of communication. Based on the main logo, a family of 100 sub-logos was created. Each sub-logo conveys a story, crucial invention or initiative of mankind. From Quipu-Knotted strings for information collection in prehistoric civilization to the age of AI, the logo family shows a whole history of communication technology of human. For the 15th anniversary of the School of Communication, ECNU, the visual identity design of project is in tribute to not only the discipline, the practice, and the development of communication, but also the human wisdom and creativity.
Mengyi Xie is a senior brand designer in Shanghai. He has been engaged in the practice, research and teaching of brand image design and visual communication for more than ten years.
School of Communication, ECNU, was founded in 2004. The school offers four programs, of Broadcasting and Television, Journalism, Advertising, and Publication and Culture. It now offers: 5 undergraduate majors of Broadcasting & TV Director, Broadcasting & Hosting, Journalism, Advertising, Editing & Publication; 3 master’s programs of, Drama and Film Studies, Journalism, and Communication; and 3 professional master’s programs on Journalism and Communication, Fine Arts (Broadcasting and Television), and Publication. It has 2 master’s programs of first-level discipline on Journalism & Communication, and on Drama and Film Studies; and 1 doctoral program of first-level discipline on Journalism & Communication.
