The School of Design has five majors: Industrial Design, Product Design, Environmental Art Design, Digital Media Art, and Fashion and Apparel Design. There are more than 40 teachers from Zhejiang University, China Academy of Art, Berlin University of Art, London College of Fashion, University of Surrey, Omae University, and Kyoto University of Technology and Fibre, among which there are 4 professors and 7 associate professors. Under the School of Design, there is a Research Centre for Baby Products at Zhejiang University of Technology and a Research Centre for Industrial Design at Chi Mei. There are machining, woodworking, ceramics studios, animation laboratories, and comprehensive laboratories equipped with 3D printers, laser engraving, lathes, band saws, cameras, and other equipment to undertake industrial design, pottery works, household products, and short animation productions. Since 2010, the faculty has undertaken more than 60 research projects and engineering projects at national, provincial, municipal, and other levels, with more than 20 million yuan in horizontal research funding, including 2 national projects and 6 provincial and ministerial projects. Teachers have published 109 academic papers, including 35 articles in Class A, the three major indexes, and more than 20 books and textbooks. Teachers have been granted 270 patents, including 14 invention patents and 256 utility model patents. Over the years, the School of Design has been committed to promoting international cooperation and conducting multi-level exchanges with foreign universities to cultivate students with a global perspective and innovative design concepts. Since 2013, the School of Design has been working with the University of Bridgeport in the United States on the "2+2" and "3+1" programs for industrial design undergraduates, cultivating industrial design and management talents with an international perspective and comprehensive aesthetic ability.
