TPH Cypress Tissue Paper Holder

The TPH Cypress has a simple and minimal shape in which paper is sandwiched between two inverted V-shaped trays and taken out from above. A beautiful paper holder made using the traditional technique Japanese call Hikimage with Kiso cypress. Kiso is famous for producing cypress. A metal fitting is attached to the back side of the upper tray. As a result, the weight is increased and friction is reduced, enabling smooth removal. Kiso cypress is highly antibacterial, has a very beautiful grain, and has a refreshing scent.

I’ve been working for the design of leather products for 30 years. I am also teaching about product designs at a crafts school in Toyooka-shi where has 70% shares of manufacturing of bags. As a designer, I’ve been working with craftsmen with good relationship. For let people know about the unique and high quality products, we have to entry this AWARD & COMPETITION. Of course, the nominating means a lot for us.

Noriko otaka

corino2.9-1.0 is a lifestyle brand launched by Noriko Otaka, a designer who has been worked in the manufacture of leather products for over 30 years. In collaboration with factories in Japan, we propose products that specialize in functional beauty while making full use of traditional Japanese techniques and materials. The first product of corino 2.9-1.0, the steel and leather tissue paper holder won the 2019 Omotenashi Selection in Japan and the 2020 A'DESIGN AWARD. In 2021, we will use Japanese cypress names Hinoki, which is a special product in Japan. Introducing a refined tissue paper holder with a beautiful shape unique to corino 2.9-1.0, making full use of traditional Japanese techniques.
