In this Archi-Lab, they are experimenting outside in. The combination of the common exterior material in this sub-tropical city, such as brick, concrete, tiles and re-bars, are re-organized to bring the exterior scale to interior. The mixing of the new walls and old brick, the book shelves made from re-bars, are all architecture experiments which are on the way to explore the possibilities in spatial design.
Yenling Chen, Registered Architect NY State/ LEED AP, is a founding partner of Yen Partnership Architects. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Tamkang University Taiwan, and her Master’s Degree in Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, Preservation, Columbia University in the City of New York. Prior to establishing Yen Partnership Architects with the partner Yen-Yin Lin, Ms. Chen worked for Steven Holl Architects in the New York as one of the leading architects on Beijing Linked Hybrid project (Beijing Grand MOMA) which won numerous international design award such as Architectural Record China, "Good Design Is God Business" Award, Best Residential Project, USA, 2010, Pei Partnership in New York, and Swire Properties. Ms. Chen has wide international experience on different project types and participated many award winning projects such as Vanke Center in Shenzhen, Suzhou Museum, Museum of Islamic Arts, Doha, Qatar, and East Hotel, Indigo Beijing. After returning to Taiwan with her multi-cultural experiences in Japan, Taiwan, US and China, Ms. Chen was invited to participate as a consultant to several prestigious projects, such as Taipei Railway Workshop Regeneration and Rose Rock International Finance Center, Tianjin by Rose Rock Group.
