The main goal of this design was to create such a learning and working environment which revolutionizes the 21st century academic art practice. To accomplish this goal the architects were working hand in hand with the university staff while coming up with the plans, inventing inner spaces that serve as a transformable, stimulating background for creative activities. The suspended structure of Base maximizes the freedom to use different floors, and the horizontal and vertical transparency of building A encourages interdisciplinary dialogue, while UP provides a constantly changing revelation.
3h architects is a Hungarian architectural office with European connections standing for an innovative and challenging architecture. Located in Budapest, 3h is challenged by working with clients who dare to be different. Specific, appropriate, open-minded and creating a bridge between innovation and tradition are the keywords of their direction in architecture, in continuous research and in any field beyond. Influenced by the cultural and historical context as well as by contemporary life, their aim is to develop architecture that reflects all characteristics of modern times. Their architecture should be, however a precise attitude, moral toughness is needed – globalization versus local resistance. Thus their goal is not to borrow but to merge, not to declare but to relate, not to irritate but to persuade.
3h is a group of architects working in Budapest. The firm’s activities include the design of office, residential, public and ecclesiastical buildings and the restoration of historic buildings. Numerous Hungarian and international prizes, invitations to tenders, publications and exhibitions testify to the quality of its output. The firm, which currently employs 15 people, was set up in 1994 by Katalin Csillag and Zsolt Gunther. The office takes pride in both its flair for imaginative concepts and its skill in finding cutting-edge technical solutions. 3h refers to the hardness of a pencil: just as the hard 3h pencil leaves an indelible mark, so the 3h group of architects strives to leave its mark on the world with its designs and buildings.
