The convent of Santa Caterina is a restricted historical area, located in the heart of Treviso, which had many critics, both functional and structural. The project was divided into three phases, which have led to a new system of access and enjoyment of the entire complex, through different strategies: the inclusion of services to support international exhibitions, the reorganization of museum itineraries, the rearrangement of some wings according to the box in box principle, the restoration of fine parts, the reopening of the underground hall and the redefinition of the entrance volume.

Gherardi architetti deals with the architectural project at different scales, from urban masterplans to industrial design. The firm follows projects of multiple scales and uses, both in Italy and abroad, in various countries including Switzerland, Luxembourg and the Middle East. Gherardi architetti has received several awards including the German Design Awards, the Iconic Awards and the In-Arch Award, both for architecture and product design. In 2021 he participated in the Venice Architecture Biennale with the exhibition entitled "Escapology".

Gherardiarchitetti was founded in 2000 in Treviso and Castelfranco Veneto (Italy) by Edoardo Gherardi (born 1973). The office works in many fields of architecture: urban design, architectural design, interior design, industrial design and ship design. It has followed the setting-up of the major art exhibitions in the last decade in Italy. It is following many projects around the world, among them in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Far East and all over the world. The multiplicity of projects is followed with the same approach, whether small or large: attention to detail, environmental quality, architectural quality, starting from the analysis of the landscape structure, history and social practices. Gherardiarchitetti relies on a network of leading professionals, including architects, graphic designers and technicians , with a profusion of knowledge to achieve the quality in every project. It won the third prize at the Young & Design international competition in 2006 and 2007, the Iconic Award in 2017, the German Design Award in 2018 and 2020, the Iconic Award in 2020. He was selected for the Compasso d'Oro Award in 2018. Edoardo Gherardi is art director of several companies in the furniture sector.
